A dedicated electrician from Ennis, Co. Clare has secured a coveted semi-final position in Screwfix's prestigious search for the UK & Ireland's top tradesperson, highlighting the excellence of Irish craftsmanship in an increasingly competitive market.

Community-Focused Craftsman

Paul Whitmore, a 49-year-old entrepreneur with nearly three decades of electrical expertise, has distinguished himself among hundreds of contestants across the UK and Ireland. Following in the footsteps of Clare's tradition of community service, Whitmore has built his reputation on providing affordable, high-quality electrical services, often offering discounted rates to those in need.

Competition Details

The competition, now in its 16th year in the UK and 6th year in Ireland, represents a significant opportunity for Irish tradespeople to showcase their skills on an international stage. Similar to how Irish businesses are making their mark globally, Whitmore will compete against over 40 skilled professionals in the semi-finals.

Prize and Recognition

The ultimate winner, to be crowned at Screwfix LIVE in September, will receive a substantial €20,000 trade bundle including tools, technology, and training opportunities. This investment in trade excellence mirrors Ireland's growing influence across various sectors internationally.

"When I heard that I had been successful in getting to the semi-final stage, I was shocked. It's an honour to compete against such talented individuals, and I'm excited to share my story with the judges," says Whitmore.
