Dublin’s Nightlife Under Threat as Taxi Shortage Drives People Home Early
A new survey from the Licensed Vintners Association (LVA) shows that six out of ten Dubliners are cutting back on nights out because they simply cannot get a taxi home. The findings, released on July 15, 2026, paint a stark picture of a capital city where the late-night transport system is failing its citizens.
The LVA surveyed 510 people who socialise in Dublin at least once a month. The results are clear: 67 percent have faced real trouble finding a taxi after a night out. Four in ten people say they struggle frequently, while another 35 percent say it happens half the time. This is not a minor inconvenience. It is a barrier to social life itself.
