Rob Reiner has been honoured with a posthumous Emmy Award for his guest role in the hit series The Bear, a recognition that arrives amidst the shadow of a family tragedy that shook Hollywood last December. The 78-year-old director, best known for Spinal Tap, and his wife Michele Singer Reiner, 70, were found dead in their Los Angeles home, with their son Nick, 32, now charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

On Sunday night at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, the Television Academy announced Reiner as the winner of Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy for his portrayal of Albert Schnurr in a 2025 episode of The Bear. The award, part of the Creative Arts Emmys ceremony, was accepted on his behalf by presenter Wendi McLendon-Covey, who asked the audience to stand in tribute.
